According to IBISWorld research report, despite falling consumer confidence and constrained consumer spending, the Hardware Retailing industry is expected to grow in 2011-12, up 2.2% in real terms to be one of the best performing retail industries in the country. Over the past five years the industry has grown by 0.3% per annum to be worth $11.6 billion. The industry is coming to the end of a period of poor growth and declines in revenue, and seems to cycle over a 10-year period from growth to contraction.
