Bill Boak is the new president of Cardinal Fastener, succeeding John Grabner, who is no longer with the Ohio fastener manufacturer. Brad Tinney is the new president of Alabama-based Birmingham Fastener and its family of companies.  Tinney, who has spent his entire life in fasteners, has been vice president of manufacturing operations.  His father, Howard Tinney, founded the company as a distributorship in 1980.
Boak has been a senior level executive at SPS Technologies Inc. and Textron Fastening Inc., where his responsibilities included domestic turnaround and international experience in general management plus sales and marketing.
Cardinal Fastener manufactures hot formed, short lead time, large diameter fasteners to industry standards and customer blueprints. Cardinal is located at 5185 Richmond Rd., Bedford Heights, OH 44146. Cardinal received worldwide publicity for its wind energy fastener manufacturing when President-elect Barack Obama toured the plant en route to his 2009 inauguration. Germany's Würth Group purchased Cardinal in 2011 and made it part of Würth's Michigan-based Dokka Fasteners unit. "These are exciting times to be a domestic manufacturer," Tinney told GlobalFastenerNews.com in 2012.  "There are good things in the future."
The increasing U.S. domestic production encouraged Birmingham Fastener to begin a $2 million expansion of its facility in the Pratt City area of Birmingham last year. The Birmingham Fastener Group is a manufacturer and distributor of T-head bolts, anchor bolts, cross brace rods and structural and non-structural components for the metal building, construction, utilities, aerospace, OEM and industrial markets. Birmingham Fastener has nine regional operations located throughout the country. Birmingham Fastener and its subsidiaries; the Hanceville Distribution Center, Alabama Aerospace, Huntsville Fastener, B-Fast Mobile, ProSouth Jacksonville, Dallas Fastener, Omaha Fastener, and A-A Bridgeport have service centers providing sales, VMI and technical support.
