World's Largest Elevator Manufacturer, OTIS Is Likely to Purchase Wire Rope from Severstal Russian Steel

Severstal-Metiz of Severstal Russian Steel group manufactures the wire rope specifically used by elevantors. It is the leading elevator manufacturer to provide first experimental production in the Russian market, which also starts to negotaite the permission procedure of supply with the world's largest elevator manufacturer, OTIS.
Specialists from Severstal-Metiz has drawn some samples from the experimental production (wire rope with eight fiber core) and conducted relevant tests in their own lab. The first series of geometry and tolerance tests have confirmed that the wire ropes are compliant with relevant requirement and standards, and all test results will be filled into the exclusive development form by OTIS. Engineers from OTIS followed these test results to determine whether if an inspection for factory located in Cherepovetsk City will be required. Subsidiary company, Cherepovetsk of Severstal-Metiz started to use the specified wire rope manufacturing equipment for new elevator since April.
General Manager Oleg Veter of Severstal-Metiz stated: "The elevator system of OTIS is recognized quality standards by experts, who are stringent with requirement to suppliers. Due to the fact Severstal group complies with these requirements, both parties are now negotiating supply conditions and there are likely to be many more cooperation opportunities in near future."
Meanwhile, Techi Rus（Subsidiary of Severstal-Metiz）has acquired relevant permissions for Russian Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision to produce chain slings, ring-based pressed steel wire rope sling, and textile slings.
Currently, Techi Rus owns three platen machines with pressures 350 tons, 1,000 tons and 2,000 tons to manufacture the slings with different diameters. The platen machine with 1,000 tons and 2,000 tons can produce steel ropes with over 60 mm diameter.
General Manager Anatolyi Frishman of Techi Rus stated: "During the application for permission, our company has committed to the improvement of sling rope production technology. After we have acquired the permit, we are ready to enter the movable loading/unloading and moving equipment market, in addition to cooperate with major customers such as Severstal group. So far, Tech Rus has started processing the orders from Severstal-Metiz."
Techi Rus is now capable of producing standard ring-based pressed steel wire rope. In addition, the company can also produce various components for other loading/unloading machines of customization.
