Hilti Receives Top DGNB Ratings for Plants in Hungary And India

Hilti’s plant in Hungary has received the Platinum Rating from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), recognizing the company’s achievements to realize sustainability in its own buildings. Additionally, Hilti's plant and a multipurpose building in India have both been awarded the Gold Rating by DGNB, marking the first time a building in India has received this rating.
DGNB certification is a globally recognized standard for sustainability in the construction industry. The independent nonprofit organization is part of the World Green Building Council and assesses and certifies sustainable buildings, interiors and neighborhoods. The NGO’s ratings recognize Hilti's ongoing commitment to decarbonize and to achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2050, which was recently validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Peter Rupp, head of Corporate Sustainability at Hilti: “Production facilities have specific requirements due to their varied, individual production processes, making sustainability efforts more complex compared to office buildings. We have applied with the DGNB because they offer the most holistic sustainability certification. Besides environmental and sociocultural aspects, DGNB also focuses on the economic quality of the building along the whole building life cycle.”
Johannes Kreißig, managing director of the DGNB: “With the successful completion of DGNB certification in India and Hungary, Hilti has demonstrated that they set high standards for holistic sustainable construction in building its own facilities worldwide. Hilti is playing a truly pioneering role here, as the project in India is the first ever to be awarded DGNB certification in that country. In addition, the project in Hungary achieved the highest possible rating, with a DGNB Platinum certificate. This is a great result, and we can only congratulate them.”
