METALCON 2026 Celebrates 35 Years of Metal Construction Innovation in Orlando
Annual industry event brings together manufacturers, contractors, designers and suppliers for three days of education, product discovery and collaboration
ORLANDO, FL. — METALCON marked its 35th anniversary October 7–9, 2026, bringing the metal construction industry to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, for three days of product innovation, technical education, hands-on demonstrations and networking.
Making its first appearance in Orlando, METALCON continued its role as a gathering place for professionals across the metal construction supply chain, including contractors, fabricators, manufacturers, architects, engineers, specifiers, distributors and suppliers. More than 250 exhibiting companies showcased products, equipment, technologies and solutions serving the evolving needs of the industry.
This milestone year celebrated the industry's history while looking ahead to the technologies, business strategies and workforce developments that will shape its future.
Innovation on the Show Floor
The METALCON exhibit hall offered attendees opportunities to explore new products, connect directly with manufacturers and see metal construction solutions in action. Exhibits covered a broad range of applications, from metal roofing and wall systems to roll-forming equipment, coatings, building components, software and production technologies.
For professionals involved in fastening systems, metal fabrication and building-envelope applications, the show provided an opportunity to connect with manufacturers and contractors whose products and processes depend on reliable, high-performance building components. Conversations around material performance, installation efficiency, durability and productivity underscored the importance of collaboration throughout the construction supply chain.
Among the featured experiences was U. S. Steel’s interactive Steel on the Move exhibit, recognizing 125 years of innovation in steelmaking and exploring steel’s continuing role in construction, infrastructure and manufacturing.
Hands-On Learning and Industry Education
Education remained central to the METALCON experience, with technical sessions, practical demonstrations and expert-led discussions addressing challenges and opportunities across metal construction.
The METALCON Training Zone featured demonstrations using materials such as painted steel, aluminum, zinc and copper, giving participants opportunities to explore installation methods, material characteristics and techniques that can improve workmanship and project outcomes.
Metal Mastery Clinics and additional educational programming provided practical instruction, while industry outlook sessions examined economic conditions, building code developments, material costs, supply-chain considerations and the market forces expected to influence construction in 2027.
The Design District @ METALCON also brought architects, engineers, designers and specifiers together for programming focused on metal applications, building performance, sustainability and design innovation.
Together, these experiences reinforced the value of bringing technical education and product discovery into the same environment, allowing attendees to connect what they learned with solutions available in the marketplace.
Building Connections Across the Industry
Beyond the exhibit hall, METALCON created opportunities for professionals to exchange ideas, develop business relationships and connect with peers across different segments of the industry.
Networking activities, receptions and anniversary celebrations brought together longtime participants and new attendees, reflecting the relationships that have helped sustain METALCON throughout its 35-year history.
The event also recognized companies that have exhibited at every METALCON since its inaugural show in 1991. Known as the Legacy 10, these companies represent a longstanding commitment to the event and the broader metal construction community.
METALCON also introduced its 40 Under 40 recognition program, highlighting emerging professionals whose contributions are helping advance the industry. The program reflected an ongoing emphasis on leadership development, workforce engagement and the next generation of metal construction professionals.
Making an Impact Beyond the Industry
METALCON’s annual community initiative, METALCON Gives Back, connected the event’s focus on construction innovation with a mission to support veterans and their families.
A featured live-build experience, led by FRAMECAD and industry partners, demonstrated the process of designing, manufacturing and assembling a 480-square-foot cold-formed steel home. Following the event, the completed home was designated for donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports injured veterans, first responders and families of fallen service members.
The initiative demonstrated how metal construction technologies can contribute not only to more efficient building processes but also to meaningful community impact.
Looking Ahead to METALCON 2027
As METALCON concluded its 35th anniversary year, the event underscored the importance of continued collaboration among the manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and design professionals who bring metal construction projects to life.
From advances in materials and manufacturing to evolving installation practices and building-performance requirements, the industry continues to adapt to changing market demands. Events such as METALCON give professionals an opportunity to evaluate new solutions, exchange knowledge and build relationships that extend well beyond the show floor.
METALCON will return in 2027 in Louisville, Kentucky, continuing its mission to connect the metal construction community and provide a platform for the products, ideas and partnerships shaping the industry's future.
