In the first 8 months of 2017, Taiwan exported around 1.058 million tons of fasteners to the world, up 2.65% from the same period of 2016 and the avg. price increased by 7.03% to 2.632 USD/kg. However, Taiwan’s fastener export to the EU dropped by 1.22% to around 356 thousand tons and the avg. price increased by 8.5% to 2.516 USD/kg.

In the first 8 months of 2017, China exported around 454.6 thousand tons to the EU, up 24.48% from the same period of 2016 and the avg. price slightly increased by 0.8% to 1.636 USD/kg.

TIFI Chairman Chang said in a directors and supervisors meeting held recently, that the increase in the price of Taiwan’s fasteners exported to the EU was mainly due to price hike of materials and the decline in the volume of Taiwan’s fasteners exported to the EU was kind of influenced by the EU’s termination of the antidumping measure against certain fasteners imported from China.
