Japan Fasteners Import Overview in the First Half of 2011

Japan fasteners import in the first half of 2011 showed a slight growth; the import volume was 115,000 tonnes, with an increase 13.38% over the same period last year; the import value was $34.7 billion yen, with an increase 13% over the same period last year. Among which the export volume of other steel materials bolts was the largest, up to 46,617 tonnes, with an increase of 15.93% over the same period last year; the import value was $ 8.83 billion yen, with an increase of 8.49% over the same period last year.
The import volume with the highest growth in the product categories were other fasteners, light hooks, self-tapping screws and other screws, increasing respectively 58.10%, 54.53%, 51.91% and 49.98% on a year-over-year basis. The import value with the highest growth in the product categories was self-tapping screws, which went up to 55.16%.
